Who it suits

Good fit if

  • You want to finish an assessment on your own time without a video call.
  • You want one monthly price that includes the medication, physician oversight and shipping.
  • You prefer not to pay anything until a physician has approved treatment.
  • You live in Ontario, British Columbia or Alberta.
  • You would rather have medication shipped in plain packaging than pick it up.

Less suited if

  • You want scheduled video visits or a named clinician throughout.
  • You want dietitian or coaching support built in.
  • You live outside Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta.
  • You want lab work to be part of the process, since BirchRx does not publish a lab step.

We read BirchRx’s weight management page, terms, cancellation policy and about page on 3 October 2026. This page explains how the service works as BirchRx publishes it. The comparison table and provider card carry the same ten fields we record for every provider.

How sign-up works

BirchRx describes four steps: complete an assessment, physician review, treatment delivered, and ongoing care. The assessment covers your health, weight history and goals, takes about ten minutes, and needs no video call. BirchRx says a licensed Canadian physician reviews it within 24 to 48 hours and issues a prescription if treatment is appropriate.

BirchRx states that eligibility follows body mass index (BMI, a ratio of weight to height) of 30 or more, or 27 to 29.9 with a weight-related health condition, with final eligibility decided by the physician. If you are not approved, BirchRx says you pay nothing.

Its terms say BirchRx is a technology platform and not a healthcare provider, clinic or pharmacy. The physicians are independent, and any treatment relationship is between you and the physician.

What is included and what costs extra

BirchRx publishes a single monthly care plan that it says includes the online assessment, clinician review, the prescription, the medication, shipping and ongoing clinical follow-up. The first month has a separate starting price, and BirchRx says it will confirm your price before any increase when your dose changes. Current amounts and the date we last confirmed them are in the provider card.

Follow-up is described as regular check-ins with your physician to monitor progress and adjust your dose, with refills handled automatically while you remain a suitable candidate. BirchRx does not say how often check-ins happen or what channel the care team uses between them.

On insurance, BirchRx says many private plans may cover weight management medication and that its pharmacy partners can submit claims for you. Check with your insurer first, and see our coverage guides.

How your medication arrives

BirchRx says the prescription is dispensed by a licensed Canadian pharmacy and shipped in plain packaging, with most deliveries arriving in two to five business days. It does not name the pharmacy on the pages we read.

Where it is available and what we have not confirmed

BirchRx says it currently serves patients in Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta, and that physicians are licensed in your province. You must be 18 or older and in Canada at the time of the assessment.

We classify BirchRx as a prescription service: a short online assessment, a physician-issued prescription, bundled delivery and check-ins, with no published lab step or coaching. It lists men’s health alongside weight management, so it is not a broad multi-service platform. Read the care models guide and the providers overview to compare it with other services, or see our methodology.
