What this means in practice
- We don’t assess you. Nothing on this site considers your health history, other medications or circumstances. Only a prescriber who assesses you can decide whether a GLP-1 medication is appropriate.
- We don’t compare effectiveness. Our drug pages state facts from Health Canada product monographs: ingredient, approved uses, doses and how each is taken. We don’t compare how well drugs work, or say how much weight anyone will lose.
- Approved uses differ. Health Canada approves some GLP-1 medications for type 2 diabetes and others for chronic weight management, at different doses. A prescriber decides which applies to you.
- Read the product information. Each medication comes with patient information listing side effects, warnings and who shouldn’t take it. Read it, and ask your pharmacist about anything you’re unsure of.
- Clinical review. Health pages are reviewed by a named, licensed clinician. That review checks our explanations are accurate; it isn’t advice to you personally.
